Motiva also includes Q Inside Safety Technology, an RFID microchip embedded in each implant for storage of information about the device.

Mentor has manufactured breast implants since 1969 and focuses on reliability backed by extensive clinical data. Their MemoryGel and MemoryGel Xtra use a cohesive silicone that holds its shape consistently.
The gel is often called “gummy bear” gel because of its firmness. Mentor offers both smooth-shell implants and SILTEX micro-textured options (note: not available in Vietnam), though smooth shells are more commonly used today.

In general, yes. Most people who compare the two side-by-side find Motiva’s ProgressiveGel feels softer than Mentor’s MemoryGel; the difference may not be dramatic, especially once the implants are in place.
How implants feel after surgery depends on placement and your existing tissue. Under-muscle placement feels softer regardless of brand.

Are Motiva or Mentor Implants Safer? Rupture Rates and Longevity
Both Motiva and Mentor meet international safety standards, but their safety profiles differ slightly due to the amount of available data.
Rupture Rates
Motiva’s FDA trial (451 patients, 3-year follow-up) reported a confirmed or suspected rupture rate of 0.6%, based on a rigorous MRI-monitored study submitted to the FDA.
Mentor’s 10-year MemoryGel Core Study reported a 24.2% rupture rate for primary augmentation, which is why many surgeons recommend evaluation around the 10-year mark. Comparable long-term data for Motiva is not yet available.
Capsular Contracture
Both brands show low contracture rates. Motiva’s SmoothSilk surface reported 0.5% capsular contracture at 3 years. Surgical technique and placement under the muscle influence risk more than the brand alone.
BIA-ALCL Risk
BIA-ALCL (Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma) is a rare condition linked to heavily textured implants. Motiva’s fine surface texture has not been associated with BIA-ALCL cases.
Mentor’s smooth shells also carry no BIA-ALCL risk. Both companies discontinued aggressive texturing used in older implant designs.
Longevity Expectations
